• Developmental Editing for Fiction is an intense and value-packed 9-week course offered online through Editorial Arts Academy, which offers real-life experience in editing manuscripts and running an editorial business. This popular course covers what you need to know to succeed as a developmental editor for commercial and literary fiction. Pat takes you step by step through a full developmental edit of a novel manuscript. Learn the principles of developmental commentary, how to create and analyze a book map, how to identify a novel’s strengths and weaknesses, and how to hang out your shingle as a developmental editor. The 10 lessons (+ a bonus lesson) in this course, as well as several workbooks and EAA’s Marketing Survey Report, cover what you need to develop a robust marketing plan for your freelance editorial business. This course is for new and established editors who want to create an effective marketing strategy with the goal of filling their editorial calendar, working with their dream projects, and creating a sustainable and rewarding editorial business. • Line Editing Group Mentorship: Memoir is a small group “learn by doing” experience designed for freelance editors who want to hone their skills and get personalized feedback on their line editing from an experienced industry professional.
